Keep early messages in the app
Use the platform while you are getting to know someone so you can control what information you share and use reporting tools if needed. Moving to another app is a personal choice, not something you owe anyone in the first few conversations.
Protect private information
Do not share passwords, verification codes, banking information, identity documents or your home address. Never send money to someone you have not independently verified.
Build trust gradually
A video call, consistent answers and a respectful pace can tell you more than grand statements. If you decide to meet, choose a public place, arrange your own travel and tell someone you trust where you will be.
Notice how boundaries are treated
Pressure, secrecy, urgent requests and inconsistent stories are reasons to slow down. A sincere person will understand why safety and consent matter. If something feels unsafe, stop contact and use reporting or local emergency services when appropriate.
